COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Operated through the Heart Institute's Center for Community Action to Prevent Cardiovascular Disease, our community programs reach out to citizens of Central and Eastern Oregon to increase public awareness of and response to heart-related healthcare issues. Key programs and ongoing projects include:
- Kids@Heart - a regional collaboration focused on reducing the rising trend of childhood obesity
- The Summit Model - a pilot nutrition and physical activity program developed in partnership with Clear One Foundation and Summit High School
-
Rural Community Forums - brought to residents of John Day,
Madras, Burns, Redmond, Lakeview, and Prineville to help them
learn how to recognize and prevent heart disease
-
Special Presentations - cardiac specialists from the Heart
Institute and our partners in the medical community are
available to deliver presentations on heart health issues to
local and regional service clubs and schools
-
The Heart Institute's Website - available to anyone and
provides updated information about the diagnosis, treatment,
and prevention of heart disease. Be sure to check your risk
for heart attack and related health issues using our risk
assessment calculator.
