KIDS@HEART - Be active. Eat healthy. Play.
Kids@Heart is a regional collaborative initiative led by the
Heart Institute. It is sharply focused on reversing the rising
trend of childhood obesity. Our partnership is growing daily
and includes representatives from public health departments,
school districts, practitioners of Warm Springs Health and
Wellness, Parks and Rec, community-based nonprofit
organizations, health advocacy groups and members of the
medical community throughout Jefferson, Crook and Deschutes
Counties. Kids@Heart is a strategic priority of the Heart
Institute’s Center for Community Action to Prevent
Cardiovascular Disease.
On May 5th, 2009, we held our first regional roundtable forum
to begin the process of defining what the Kids@Heart initiative
will look like in coming years. As a group, it was decided that
there is a great need for a cohesive regional collaboration to
address this issue on many fronts, given the complexity of the
problem.
Our next forum is scheduled for Monday, January 11th at the Heart Center conference room on the St. Charles-Bend campus. Join us in shaping the Kids@Heart activity and action agenda for 2010.
