EBT/Laprascopic Gastric Bypass

Study Summary: The purpose of this
study is to measure by electron beam tomography (EBT) the
coronary calcium quantity (a marker of coronary plaque) in
morbidly obese patients before and 18 months after Laparoscopic
Gastric Bypass Surgery and compare the results with
control patients who choose not to have the surgery. The study
is trying to determine if the marked weight loss seen after
bariatric surgery is associated with less progression of
coronary plaque.
