Dexamethasone in Fetal Congenital Heart
Block
Investigators: Urszula Tajchman, M.D.
Jill P. Buyon, M.D., New York University
Study Summary: The purpose of this
study is to determine whether taking oral Dexamethasone (a
potent steroid) by a mother with systemic lupus
erythematosus ( an uncommon inflammatory condition) will
improve the health of a fetus that has been diagnosed with
fetal heart block. This study is being conducted to find out if
the heart block can be reversed and whether the associated poor
functioning of the heart can be prevented by the use of
Dexamethasone.
